Job Description

RAQ continually seeks to diversify its market presence and portfolio in the Civil Contracting sector. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Chief Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team.


The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the cost management and commercial aspects of construction projects, ensuring that projects are completed within budget. The role involves leading a team of quantity surveyors and cost controllers.


  • Lead the preparation of cost estimates and budget reports.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for construction projects.
  • Monitor project costs and implement cost control measures to prevent overruns.
  • Provide value engineering to optimize project costs and efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors/Cost Controllers across various projects.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure consistent quality of work.
  • Provide training, guidance, and professional development to junior QS and Cost Control staff.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to ensure alignment on project budgets and cost issues.
  • Attend project meetings and provide commercial insight and recommendations.
  • Prepare regular commercial reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost-to-complete analyses.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.


Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in quantity surveying in the construction industry.
  • Professional membership (e.g., MRICS) is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale civil projects.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, WinQS, Candy).
  • Excellent knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy of cost estimates and budget forecasting.
  • Staff development and retention in the QS team.
